Champawat: A Nice Place to Visit Rount The Year

The district of Champawat declared in 1997. It is situated in the north India Uttarakhand state. Geographical coverage of Champawat district is about 1613 Sq. Km. Which includes 4 Tehsil “Champawat, Lohaghat, Tanakpur and Pati” and 1 sub Tehsil “Barakot”.

As the name suggests the district owes its name to king Arjun Deo's daughter Champawati. Earlier In 1972 Champawat was the Tahsil of Almora district then transferred to Pithoragarh.

On 15th September, 1997 Champawat was given an independent identity as a district.
